Looking back...I also had a DNF in a marathon once. Looking back, it was smart to stop when I did. I probably prevented permanent damage.<br /><br />You were smart to listen to your body. There are plenty more races out there. And the one factor in a race that is out of your control is the weather. Don't get down on yourself - know that you will do awesome in your next one. I did - my next marathon was a 3:23 in Boston, and I haven't had a DNF since. So I guess I'm 27-1 for marathons. I ran/walked 16 miles on the LFT on Sunday and it was miserable. Congrats on getting as far as you did and listening to your body.
